The site was within a conservation area and on land near to our client's listed property.  The planning officer accepted that the dwelling would meet the council's policy for housing in the village but the conservation officer wanted the application refused.

We had worked closely with the architect and heritage consultant to produce a low impact dwelling that be assimilated into the existing buildings and landscape on the site so it was very disappointing to not get the support of the conservation officer and ending up with a recommendation of refusal.

We did however have a lot of local support and the application ended up being reported to the planning committee.  Richard and our client spoke at the committee and we were delighted when the councillors spoke whole heartedly in favour of the application and the application was unanimously approved.
